Ultimate Rescue

Ultimate Rescue

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” – Luke 19:10

Have you ever been so lost you weren’t sure you would ever find your way home?

I’m not talking about just not being sure where you were going. I mean having no idea where you were or how find your way.

Lost in the Wilderness
I was reading the other day of a woman named Susan O’Brien. She had been running a race through the forested mountains of New Zealand. She made a wrong turn and got disorientated. She tried to find her way back to the trail, but ended up going the wrong direction and moving farther away.

She was lost in the middle a of a wilderness with no idea where she was or how to get back home and no supplies. To stay warm at night, she dug a hole and covered herself with dirt. Thankfully, she was found after a day by a rescue helicopter. Her life was saved because people went out looking for her.

Ultimate Rescuer
My son is three and loves watching Paw Patrol. They have a series of episodes called “Ultimate Rescue” where 8 talking pups and a young boy go around saving people and animals. He thinks they are the greatest, but there’s an even greater rescuer.

Jesus came to seek and save the lost. We were all spiritually lost. Everyone of us, blinded by the darkness of sin. We had no idea where we were or how to get home and, honestly, weren’t even trying to find our way.

Thankfully, Jesus didn’t wait for us to figure it out and find our way home. He came to us. He sought us in order to save us and take us home to be with Him for all eternity.

Praise the Lord!

Even as Christians sometimes we still can feel lost. One wrong step leads to another and soon we feel like we have no hope and no way back home. Jesus is still the way. You can never get so lost that Jesus cannot find you. You can never go so wrong, that He wouldn’t seek you.

No matter how lost we feel, we can always turn to Jesus.

Heavenly Father,

Sometimes I feel so lost in the world. Remind me of the promise You have made that You seek the lost and You save the lost.

Amen

In Christ’s Service,

Pastor Kurt
