Christmas is Over, but Christ is Still With Us

Christmas is Over, but Christ is Still With Us

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20

All Advent and Christmas we’ve been talking about God as Immanuel, God with us.  One of the amazing things about Christmas is that the God of the universe became man and dwelled among us.

He didn’t, however, just dwell among us (past tense), He continues to dwell with us.  Before Jesus ascension, He said He would be with us until the end of the age.  As we know from the angel who appeared to Mary,no word from God will ever fail” (Luke 1:37).

Jesus is here.

We may not be able to go down to the local mount and listen to Jesus teaching, but He is still here with us.  He is here in His Word.  He is here in the Lord’s Supper.  He is here in each of those who believe in Him.

We can also pray. God promises to listen to our prayers. Jesus promises to intercede for us with the Father. He wants us to come to Him and give Him everything.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

The season of Christmas may be ending, but the season of Immanuel never ends.  He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for coming to be with us.  Thank you for always being with us.  Remind me that you are with us every day, especially on those days when things seem most bleak.

Amen.
