• We are to be self-controlled and sober-minded. Sober minded is not just about alcohol or drugs, but all that might dull our senses, which is to say, sin in the mind. So, do not act out sin, but also do not engage in the sin of the mind (lust, greed, pride, false doctrine, etc.)
• Sin hinders our prayers. It keeps us from praying or even knowing what to pray.
