21 Days of Prayer - Day 3

Heavenly Father,

You are the creator of all things. You give us life and salvation. You sustain us and go with us every day. You have also given us Your church. We praise You for Your goodness and provision.

I also confess that I have sinned. I have not always valued Your church as I should and I have not always treated those in Your church as I should. I have sinned against You and others.

(take a moment to reflect on the past day and confess your sins)

I am very sorry for my sins and, for the sake of Jesus Christ, ask for Your forgiveness.

Amen

The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And
forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever.

Amen

Prayer of the Day:

Heavenly Father,

You have called us, personally, to faith in Your Son, yet You did not leave us to walk this life of faith alone. You gave us Your Church with Jesus, Himself, as the foundation and head of the church. I thank you for the church. I thank You for the blessings You give us through Your church, especially Your Word and Sacraments.

I pray for Your church throughout the world, that we would live as Your church, building each other up and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to those who are far from God.

I also pray for Your church at Faith Lutheran Church. Guide us and lead us. Help us to love one another as Christ loves us. Help us to build one another up in Your Word. Help us to forgive one another as You have forgiven us.

Help us to, then, go forth from our gathering into the world and share the Love of Jesus with all who we meet. Give us opportunities to form relationships with people who do not know You and, through those relationships, to be able to share the Gospel with them.

Bless Your church throughout the world and bless Faith Lutheran Church. May we faithfully reach out into our community and may You bless those efforts by bringing people into Faith that through Faith Lutheran Church, they may come to know You and grow in their faith.

Amen.

The Psalms:

The Psalms have long been considered the prayer book of the Bible and have been used as prayers by countless Christians over the centuries. So, we join them in this practice and pray a Psalm.

Luther’s Morning Prayer:

I thank you, my Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.

Luther’s Evening Prayer:

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day; and I pray You to forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the wicked foe may have no power over me. Amen.

In Christ’s Service,

Pastor Kurt
