Mentors

Mentors

So, I’ve been writing this youth blog for a little over a month now. I hope you guys have been enjoying it so far. But I began to wonder,

“Why do I want to do this?”

I am no acclaimed writer. I really do not like reading that much either… lol.

SO why?

Well…

It has a lot to do with my current mentor, Kurt. If you don’t know him, he’s the pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Wesley Chapel. I have known him for about 5 years now (as of this Palm Sunday) and I can trust him to guide me spiritually in my day-to-day life. He encouraged me to do more with the youth because that is my passion, so here I am.

It reminded me of Samuel and Eli.

Samuel knew about God but did not really know God’s voice. When God called Samuel, he thought it was Eli. Eli told him the next time God calls to say,

“Here I am, Lord. Your servant is listening.”

Eli taught Samuel how to hear God’s voice. Kind of like how pastors lead their flock closer to God. Samuel went on to serve God. Hopefully, the youth blog and other ways I help the youth ministry serves God, too. Hopefully, you find it helpful, too.

I hope, in your personal life, you come across someone who encourages you in faith, who helps you along the way spiritually, and wants you to have a deep relationship with God. And just know you can always talk to Pastor Kurt or me.

If you already have a mentor or someone you look up to, share in the comments who it is and what they mean to you.

‘Till next time,
Terrell
