He Will Not Disappoint!!

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” — Romans 5:5

When was the last time someone let you down?

Life can be disappointing. We can all think of a time (probably a bunch of times) when someone let us down. You may even be thinking of something from this week…or today.

I remember a few years ago I had my HOA breathing down my neck about my lawn and no time to get out there and mow. So, I called a company to come to mow. They said they would be there on Tuesday, but Tuesday came and went and the lawn wasn’t mowed. Wednesday…Thursday… Finally, I called again and they said they would have someone out the following week. Ugh!

Broken promises cause a trust problem.

When we break a promise, it erodes people’s trust in us. Big broken promises may sever a relationship entirely, but even small broken promises start to make people doubt.

Sadly, broken promises have become a part of life, whether a company, an evening with a friend, or, unfortunately, even marriages.

There is one promise, however, that will not disappoint.

When we put our hope in God’s promise of salvation through Jesus Christ, He will come through. And His promise is not just for what is to come, but even for now. He pours out His love into our hearts and gives us the Holy Spirit.

God never breaks His promises, even in the small stuff.

This is soooo important. If God broke His promises in the small stuff, how could we trust His promises for the big stuff? In fact, God makes a point to let us know that He doesn’t break His promises. He gives us the Bible which has both people giving testimony to God’s faithfulness and example after example of God fulfilling His promises.

The more we read the Bible, the more we see how faithful God is…perfectly faithful. So, we know we can trust Him.

Heavenly Father,

Sometimes life can be disappointing. Thank You that I can depend on You and know that my hope in You will never disappoint.

Amen

In Christ’s Service,

Pastor Kurt
