Welcome

Opening Song: Blessed Be Your Name

Blessed be Your name  in the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow  blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name  when I’m found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness blessed be Your name

Pre-Chorus:
Every blessing You pour out I’ll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord still I will say

Chorus:
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Verse 2:
Blessed be Your name when the sun’s shining down on me
When the worlds “all as it should be” blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name on the road marked with suffering
Though there’s pain in the offering blessed be Your name

Pre-Chorus
Chorus

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

Confession and Forgiveness:

P: Come into the presence of the Lord our God.

C: Have mercy, O Lord. If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?

P: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

C: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

(a time of silence to reflect and personally confess our sins)

P: I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. Let us confess our sin before the Lord.

C: Heavenly Father, we confess that we are sinners.  We have sinned against you and our neighbors. We have not loved you with our whole heart and we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We have not trusted You when struggles arose and questioned Your love when we face trails. We justly deserve Your punishment.  For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us.  Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name.  Amen.

P: The Lord is gracious and merciful. He promises to forgive our sins. Therefore, upon this, your confession, as a called and ordained servant of the Lord, in the stead and by the command of my Lord, Jesus Christ, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

C: Amen.

Song of Praise: By Grace I’m Saved w/ Amazing Grace

By grace I’m saved, grace free and boundless;
My soul, believe and doubt it not.
Why stagger at this word of promise?
Has Scripture ever falsehood taught?
No! Then this word must true remain;
By grace you too will life obtain.

By grace God’s Son, our only Savior,
Came down to earth to bear our sin.
Was it because of your own merit,
That Jesus died your soul to win?
No, it was grace, and grace alone,
That brought Him from His heav’nly throne.

By grace! On this I’ll rest when dying; In Jesus’ promise I rejoice;
For though I know my heart’s condition,
I also know my Savior’s voice.
My heart is glad, all grief has flown,
Since I am saved by grace alone.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found.  Was blind but now I see.

Old Testament Reading – Isaiah 55:6-9

“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Epistle Reading – Philippians 1:12–14, 19–21

I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear…

…for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Children’s Message (Children dismissed to Children’s Church)

Sermon Hymn – Bring the Rain

I can count a million times, People asking me how I
Can praise You with all that I’ve gone through
The question just amazes me Can circumstances possibly
Change who I forever am in You

Maybe since my life was changed, Long before these rainy days
It’s never really ever crossed my mind
To turn my back on you oh Lord, My only shelter from the storms
But instead I draw closer through these times. So, I pray

Chorus:
Bring me joy, bring me peace. Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory
And I know There’ll be days, when this life brings me pain
But if that’s what it takes to praise You
Jesus Bring the Rain

I am Yours regardless of the dark clouds that may loom above
Because You are much greater than my pain
You who made a way for me, by suffering Your destiny
So tell me what’s a little rain So, I pray

Chorus

Holy, Holy, Holy. Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty. Is the Lord God Almighty
Repeat 3x

Sermon – “That’s Not Fair!”

Matthew 20:1-16

“For the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. After agreeing with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And going out about the third hour he saw others standing idle in the marketplace, and to them he said, ‘You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So they went. Going out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour, he did the same. And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing. And he said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’ They said to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’

And when evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last, up to the first.’ And when those hired about the eleventh hour came, each of them received a denarius. Now when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more, but each of them also received a denarius. And on receiving it they grumbled at the master of the house, saying, ‘These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.’ But he replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this last worker as I give to you. Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or do you begrudge my generosity?’ So the last will be first, and the first last.”

Prayers

Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God
the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever.  Amen

Closing Song: Well Done

What will it be like when my pain is gone
And all the worries of this world just fade away?
What will it be like when You call my name
And that moment when I see You face to face?

Pre-Chorus 1:
I’m waiting my whole life to hear You say

Chorus:
Well done, well done   My good and faithful one
Welcome to the place where you belong
Well done, well done   My beloved child
You have run the race and now you’re home
Welcome to the place where you belong

Verse 2:
What will it be like when tears are washed away
And every broken thing will finally be made whole?
What will it be like when I come into Your glory
Standing in the presence of a love so beautiful?

Pre-Chorus 2:
I’m waiting my whole life for that day
I will live my life to hear You say

Chorus

What will it be like when I hear that sound?
All of heaven’s angels crying out:
Singing holy, holy, holy are You, Lord
Singing holy, holy, holy are You, Lord
Singing holy, holy, holy are You, Lord

Pre-Chorus 3:
Waiting my whole life for that day.
Until then I’ll live to hear You say

Chorus

Well done
