• Romans finishes with this short, powerful statement. “to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen.”
• This statement says a lot in a short space.
  • The only wise God – This is actually two claims. First, God is the only God. There is only one God and that is Yahweh, the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Second, God alone is wise. This is not merely a statement of knowledge and goodness, but also refers to the wise plan of salvation which has now been revealed for our salvation. His plan was good and wise and it is the only salvation.
  • To the only wise God belongs all glory for all eternity. God is not receiving glory from us. It is His already as shown in creation, redemption, and His righteousness.
  • God’s wisdom/salvation is revealed and accomplished through Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity. 
  • Amen – This is true, I believe, this is faithful and trustworthy. It is a declaration of truth and agreement.
• So, let us add our amen to the wonderful truth declared in this statement. Let’s say it together, “to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen.”
