•  The will to what is right (Godly) is always mentioned first in the Greek. This indicates that this is now the true self and the sinful self is secondary.
• “I find it to be a law”, “I see in my members another law waging war”, and “making me captive to the law of sin” – What does “law” mean here? There are a few ideas, but I’m going to focus on two here.
  • Principle: This is a truth.
  • The commands of God, but specifically, the effect of those commands.
  • I think both these understandings work, but I lean towards the second understanding.
• The good will is always close at hand. The sinful will and actions are also always close at hand. This makes sense with that second understanding of Law.
• So, we always have this battle going on in us.
• It is also good to remember also, that we not only have a sinful nature to contend with, but the devil and his demons.
