Video Notes:

• One of the consequences of being adopted as sons and daughters in Christ is that we are now heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ.
• Galatians 3:16-18, 29. We are heirs because we are in and with Christ, we belong to Christ; who is the one offspring and heir of Abraham. We become heirs with Christ through the promise, not the Law.
• We are heirs not just of the promise of Abraham, but “of God”, meaning all that God has to give and share.
• If you remember from yesterday’s video on Romans 8:16, the Holy Spirit bears witness or testifies that we are children of God. That same Spirit of God is also the guarantee, or deposit, of our inheritance until we receive the inheritance in full at Christ’s return. (Ephesians 1:13-14)
• The passage ends talking about suffering but looking to the glory of Christ’s return.
• Suffering is part of the deal. We are in Christ, the world hates Jesus and it hates all those who are with Him and belong to Him.
• Glorification is also part of the deal.
