• “But it is not as though the word of God has failed.” (But by no means is it that God’s Word has failed and remains fallen)
• Isaiah 40:7-8
• God’s Word is eternal and active, but people can resist it. The Word of God has not failed. The people who heard it and did not receive and believe failed. God’s Word hasn’t fallen. The people have fallen.
• In other words, God’s Word always does what it says and God’s Word is eternal. So, it isn’t the fault of God’s Word, as though it were not effective or somehow withered and died. It’s the people’s fault who resist God’s Word and reject Jesus.
