Summer Tips #1:
“Summer Mini-Trip Tips”
Get mini-trip ideas below:
Summer often gives families the freedom to travel more. However, when parents still have to work, long trips can be a challenge. So, why not take mini-trips? There are so many things to do within an hour or two of Wesley Chapel, FL. 1-day or even afternoon trips can be great.
What Can You Do in the Car?
Whether you go on a local trip or are traveling across the country, you’ll still have some time in the car. Maybe you’ve heard this before,
“Car trips are boring!”
They don’t have to be. They also don’t have just be times when everyone is on their individual devices. Car rides can be fun and a great family-building time. So, before everyone gets their devices out, try a couple of games.
Of course, you can also have conversations, discussions, or family devotions.
(Speaking of family devotions, we have resources listed below to help you both with books and information about how to have family devotions.)
Boredom isn’t a bad thing. In fact, it can be a great opportunity for your children to be creative and learn how to find things that are interesting to them. Also, we usually associate boredom with “having nothing to do,” but believe it or not, sometimes people become bored because they are over-stimulated or over-scheduled. So, a little boredom and learning how to address that boredom can be very helpful.
Below are two links with some ideas of how to help your kids to learn how to deal with boredom.
Note: Sometimes, people get bored because they don’t want risk making a mistake or failing or they fear being hurt so they won’t open themselves up emotionally towards others or activities. If you think your child may be bored because of either of these, know that these things can be deeper challenges that will take time to address and you may want to get help from counselor.
One of the great things we can do this summer (or anytime of the year) is to serve others. It helps others, expands your understanding of life, and allows you to experience love in ways nothing else can.
Family devotions are a great way to learn more about God and grow closer to each other. It’s amazing how much our kids can learn from just a few minutes a day of family devotions. It also opens up discussions with your kids and creates habits of prayer and Bible study that can last a lifetime.
However, many people don’t do family devotions because they don’t have a resource to follow or they don’t know how to do it.
Don’t worry!
You can do it!
Below are four links. Two are resources to order family devotion books and two are articles about how you can do family devotions. You can also subscribe to the following weekly devotional publications:
There are a lot of ideas about Jesus and Christianity out there, but the best way to know about Jesus is to learn from Him in the Bible. Below is the first of a series of videos about the Gospel of Mark by my friend, Pastor Dan Prugh. In just 3-4 minutes a day, you can go through the entire Gospel of Mark in a little over a month. It’s a great way to read through the Gospel of Mark and I encourage you to do it.
Thanks for visiting. I hope this page of resources has been a help and encouragement to.
God bless!
