Why an Advent Challenge?

The purpose of the Advent Challenge is to encourage Christians to touch the lives of people around them with acts of love.

We are ‘Joining Jesus On His Mission.’ Jesus has already set the stage for our building compassionate, caring relationships with those we meet every day throughout the year.

We are responding to the Holy Spirit and the Love, Joy, and Peace that has been shared with us. We don’t have to … we get to!

Don’t Make This a Burden.

Challenges like this can become more of a burden than a joy if we let them. We feel like we have to do every item and if we miss one we either feel like we need to “make it up” or we just quit.

Do It with Joy.

Do what you feel moved to do.

If you miss a day, that’s not a problem. Just move on to the next day.
If you don’t feel like you can do one of the challenges, then either do a different challenge or just skip the day.

Remember…It’s not “I have to”, it’s “I get to”.

A Heartfelt Note Today, write a heartfelt note to a loved one, and include a Christmas blessing. Let your words brighten their day and remind them of God’s love. Share a photo of your handwritten note or a video message to inspire others.
Acts of Service Offer to do a small act of service for someone in your household. It could be washing the dishes, making breakfast, or simply helping out. Capture a video or photo of your kind gesture and tag us.
Reach Out to a Neighbor Call or visit a lonely or elderly neighbor to spread holiday cheer and share a warm conversation. Record a short video message with your neighbor (with their consent) or capture a photo together, and tell us about your heartwarming event.
Donate to the Food Bank Today, donate nonperishable food items to a local food bank. Create a video or photo while you make the donation and share your experience. Your generosity is lighting up someone’s day.
Surprise Treat Surprise a coworker with a small gift or treat. Leave it anonymously and capture their reaction (with their consent). Share the joy by posting a video or photo of the surprised coworker.
Prayer Chain Start a virtual prayer chain or group for your community, focusing on unity and peace. Share a photo of your group or post a video message of encouragement. Prayer can bring hope to the world.
Acts of Kindness Offer to do On the 7th day of (BE)Christmas, offer a small act of service to brighten someone’s day. Capture it in a photo or video and share the joy with us. These little acts of service reveal God’s love and glory.
Supporting Local Businesses Support a local business or vendor by making a purchase or writing a positive review. Share a video or image of your support and spread the message that together, we can make a difference in our community.
Care for the Homeless Create a care package for a homeless individual with essentials like socks, toiletries, and snacks. Hand it to someone in need and document the moment with a photo or video. Your act of kindness can bring warmth to their hearts.
Catch Up with a Friend Reach out to a friend or family member you haven’t spoken to in a while. Share a virtual chat or coffee date, and document the moment with a selfie or video call screenshot.
Share the Word Share a favorite Bible verse or Christmas passage on social media. Record a video of yourself sharing the verse and your reflections, or post an image of the verse beautifully designed. Let’s bring the Word to life this Advent season.
Volunteer Your Time Volunteer your time at a local shelter or charity organization. Capture the moments of your service in photos or a video, and inspire others to join in. Acts of love like these light up the world.
Show Appreciation Write a letter of appreciation to your local first responders or healthcare workers, thanking them for their dedication. Share a video message or an image of your heartfelt letter. Gratitude can make someone’s day brighter.
Spreading Joy Visit a nursing home or care facility to spend time with residents and share the holiday spirit. Capture the moments of joy in a video or photos, and inspire others to bring joy wherever they go.

Love Your Local Support a local business or vendor today. Whether it’s making a purchase, writing a positive review, or sharing their story in a video, let’s show our appreciation for those who make our community special.
Warmth to the Homeless Collect gently used clothing and donate it to a local shelter or organization. Share a video or photo of your donations. Your act of generosity can bring warmth to those in need.
Christmas Caroling Gather your family and friends for a virtual carol sing-along. Share the joy of your singing in a video or a photo.
Invite to Worship Invite a friend or neighbor to a virtual Christmas Eve service at your church. Share a video invitation or a heartfelt message to encourage them to join in and experience the joy of Christ’s birth.
Rejoice in Joy Create a care package for a friend or neighbor, filling it with surprises that will bring them joy. Share a video or photo of the package you’ve prepared.
Candle of Hope Light a candle as a symbol of hope and take a moment to reflect on the blessings in your life. Share a video or photo of your lit candle and a message of hope.
Silent Night Take a few moments of silence to pray for peace and unity in the world. Share your video message or a photo, and let’s spread the message of peace.
Joy to the World Set up a nativity scene or display in your home. Share a video or photo of your nativity scene and reflect on the birth of Jesus.
Invite a Friend for Christmas Worship & Dinner! Christmas Eve is here, and it’s time to share the joy of Christ’s birth! Invite a friend or neighbor to join you for our Christmas Eve service and a warm holiday dinner.
Celebrate Completing the Advent Challenge! Merry Christmas! Today, we celebrate the completion of the Advent Challenge. Your acts of service have made a difference and shown Christ’s love to others.
Keep the Love of Jesus Alive! Christmas Day has passed, but the love of Jesus continues. Let’s find simple ways to love our neighbors and show them the love of Jesus. Share your acts of service with a photo or video and inspire others to join in.
