What do you need?

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8

What do you need? How can I help you?

You’ve probably been asked these questions at a store or other business.

I also ask this question to my kids. They are looking frantically for something or getting frustrated about something. So, I ask them, what do you need?

We are also asked that by God! He wants you to pray and ask. It’s not that God doesn’t know what we need. Rather, He wants us to know He is there for us and He wants to teach us to ask.

I may know what my child needs, but I still want them to learn to ask. Then I help. God helps, too!

How awesome is it that God cares for us and takes care of us. He tells us that if we seek Him we will find Him. He does not hide Himself from us nor does He keep us at a distance. Instead, He invites us, through Jesus, to come to Him in prayer, make our requests, lay down our burdens, and find rest in Him.

So, what do you need? Take a few minutes to ask God for whatever you need.

Dear Jesus,

Thank You for caring for me and being there for me. I know that all good things come from You. Please help me. (pray for whatever you need.) Thank you.

Amen.

In Christ’s Service,

Pastor Kurt

How To Use These Posts

The Other Six is a short, daily devotional blog post. You can use these posts for personal devotions, however, I’m also going to write them in such a way that you could use them for family devotions. I’ll include a Bible verse, questions and/or discussion points, and a closing prayer. I highly encourage you to do these devotions with your family or friends if possible.

Enjoy!
