What would you do if you saw a dead person come back to life?
“The third day he rose again from the dead.” – Apostles’ Creed
He is risen! He is Risen, Indeed. Hallelujah!
I know Easter was a month ago, but we continue to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection every week and every day.
We talk a lot about Jesus dying on the cross and sometimes it can overshadow the resurrection. However, it’s fair to say that Jesus’ resurrection is the crux of our faith.
“And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith…And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead” – 1 Corinthians 15:14, 17-19
It is in Jesus’ resurrection that we see His victory over death and hell.
His resurrection shows us that His sacrifice on the cross was accepted and our sins are forgiven. Also, His resurrection is evidence of ours. For just as Jesus rose from the dead, so shall we be.
“Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.” – Romans 6:3-6
So, may every day be an Easter day!
May every day be a celebration of our forgiveness and Christ’s victory over death and hell. May our proclamation of the resurrection give us confidence in the hope of our own resurrection in Jesus Christ.
He is risen! He is Risen, Indeed. Hallelujah!
Heavenly Father,
You raised Jesus from the dead and promise to raise us. Death no longer has any sting for the grave has been overcome by Jesus’ victory over death!
Amen.
In Christ’s Service,
Pastor Kurt
