Our God is Faithful without fault

Yesterday, I wrote about starting the day singing (or speaking) of the love and strength of the Lord. Go ahead and do that for a minute.

For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.” – Psalm 33:4-5

The other day I told someone I was going to send them some information. I forgot to do it. I do that sometimes and sometimes people do that to me. They say they will do something and then they don’t.

We all fail from time to time in following through, but God never does. He is faithful in all He does. He literally never fails to follow through on any promise.

Through news and other media, we fill our minds with all kinds of promises and predictions. Some are true some aren’t. I’ve seen predictions from financial experts that we are heading into a recession in the next few months. I’ve seen those predictions for the past 2 years. At some point I’m sure they’ll be right.

Then, there’s the promises of products that are guaranteed to make you feel better, look better, and think better. Of course, in this election year, we are sure to hear hundreds of promises both of what candidates will do and who will win. We need to be careful what promises we listen to and which we dismiss.

We should, however, fill our minds with the promises of the Lord for they are always true and He never fails. When He promises to forgive, He does. When He promises to hear us as we pray, He does. He will return one day, just as surely as our Messiah came the first time. You can always count on God’s promises.

What are your favorite promises from God?

Heavenly Father,

Your promises reassure us and fill us with hope and joy. Help us to take the time to read Your Word and hear Your promises. Help us to believe You and trust Your promises.

Amen.

In Christ’s Service,

Pastor Kurt
