Routines
Routines
Hi,
Do you ever feel like life is just one big routine?
You get up for school, go to school, go home, eat, and back in bed for school all again. Or work and home and repeat… It can be mundane and boring.
While I cannot lift the burden of school and work, I can offer some advice.
Try changing it up.
- Talk to a new person at school
- Take a different way to work, or even
- Smile more!
It may help more than you think!
I also thought of this because we say the Our Father prayer every Sunday. Matthew 6:9, “Our father which art in heaven…” It can seem mundane and routine.
I’d like to ask you to try something.
When you pray, before saying amen, try simply talking to God.
Get out of just going through the motions. Remember He is our Heavenly Father and He cares so deeply for you!!!
Til next time,
Terrell

Ash Wednesday Mid-Week Devotional Service
A Love So High It Would Reach Down Into The Dirt
As we enter the season of Lent, we contemplate God’s great love and our lowliness. We are dust to dust we shall return. This is not just a reality of life, it is a consequence of sin.
Yet we find hope and joy in the fact that God’s love not only led Him to reach into the dirt to create us but decent to that dirt to save us.
Each week, we will have a new online mid-week devotional service this Lent. Watch for the new service each week as we explore the enormity of God’s love for us.
PS – Since we are unable to have an in-person Lent service, we are unable to gather for the placing of ashes upon our foreheads. If you would still like to participate in this wonderful tradition, I encourage you to visit one of our fellow LCMS churches in the area. Here are some of the LCMS churches near us: (Click the name of the church to visit their website)

Welcome
Invocation
Confession and Forgiveness:
P: Come into the presence of God. It is God, Himself, who bids us to come to Him in prayer, especially when we have sinned, so that we may receive His forgiveness. So, we enter His courts with confidence that if we confess our sins, He will forgive us as He promised.
(a time of silence to reflect and personally confess our sins)
C: Heavenly Father, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed. We have not loved you with our whole heart and have not loved our neighbor as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ and His suffering and death on the cross, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen
P: The Lord our God is merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin. Therefore I announce unto you the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. In His stead and by the command of my Lord Jesus Christ, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
Song of Praise and Thanksgiving: All Glory, Laud, and Honor
Refrain:
All glory, laud, and honor to You, Redeemer, King,
To whom the lips of children made sweet hosannas ring.
You are the King of Israel And David’s royal Son,
Now in the Lord’s Name coming, our King and Blessed One.
Refrain
The multitude of pilgrims with palms before You went:
Our praise and prayers and anthems Before You we present.
Refrain:
All glory, laud, and honor to You, Redeemer, King,
To whom the lips of children made sweet hosannas ring.
To you before Your passion they sang their hymns of praise;
To You, now high exalted, our melody we raise.
Refrain
Epistle Reading – 2 Corinthians 3:12-4:6
Since we have such a hope, we are very bold, not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end. But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart. But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Gospel Reading – Mark 9:2–9
And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. And Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” For he did not know what to say, for they were terrified. And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus only. And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

With every breath that I am able

I have lived in the goodness of God

Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God
the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen
Benediction

Fight the shadows conquer death.

We are the light of the world
We gotta, we gotta, we gotta let the light shine

Tell the world the simple truth
Jesus came to save, there’s freedom in His Name
So let it all break through

Facility Vision Team
Facility Vision Team
I’m excited. The dance studio we have used since we launched has worked and they have been very generous with us, but what could we do with a facility that is designed for our needs and allows us to engage in ministry any day of the week?
This year, we have set a goal of finding a new 24/7 facility that meets our needs and helps us to
- Build stronger relationships with each other
- Better engage in ministry, and
- Better engage with the Wesley Chapel community.
- Grow through the proclamation of the Gospel
What Do We Need?
The first step in finding a facility that meets our needs is identifying exactly what those needs are. We aren’t looking to get a new facility that just looks nicer on Sundays. We want to put it to use throughout the week and there are lots of ways we could do this.
The purpose of the Facility Vision Team is identify what we think God is leading us to do with the facility and then determine what we need in the facility to do those things. We will do this with prayer, research, discussion, and more prayer.
Will you be on the team?
I’d like to ask you to stop for a moment and pray…right now.
Pray for the following:
- Faith Lutheran Church and our ministry
- The Facility Vision team
- Ask God if you should be on the Facility Vision Team
Pray about this again tonight and tomorrow and the next day.
If you feel led to be on the team, please contact Pastor Kurt and let him know. You can email him, call him, text him, or use the contact form on our website.
May the Lord bless Faith and the Facility Vision Team and may Faith and the greater Wesley Chapel community be blessed through the Gospel work done with this facility.
Amen!
In Christ’s Service,
Pastor Kurt
You Do Matter
You Do Matter
Hi everyone,
In life sometimes you may feel unimportant or that you do not matter.
I believe it’s a common feeling in life. I mean there are over 5 BILLION people in this world!!
However, you don’t have to feel this way.
I like to remember John 3:16,
“For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son so whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.“
How amazing is that!
You matter so much that Jesus died for YOU!
So when you feeling insignificant or small remember God thinks you are important. I’m gonna ask you to pray and when you do, remember to thank God for not only creating you but being one of his important creations.
Til next time,
Terrell
Outreach Idea Team
Outreach Idea Team
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’” – Matthew 28:18-20
One of the primary purposes of the church is share the Gospel with those who do not, yet, know Jesus. Thus, at Faith Lutheran Church, outreach has always been a top priority.
The Challenge
Outreach is always a challenge. However, the pandemic has made things even more challenging. Many of the ideas we have tried in the past are either not as effective or cannot be done.
So, we need to come up with some new ways to engage the community around us. We need to think outside the box.
The Team to Meet the Challenge
We are putting together a team to pray, do some research, and come up with ideas for new ways to engage our community.
You don’t need to be an outreach guru to be on the team. In fact, I think it would be good for us to have some people who really haven’t ever tried to do this. That may bring some fresh ideas…and fresh, maybe even unusual, ideas are exactly what we need right now.
Will you be on the team?
I did this with the Facility Vision Team and I’m going to do it again here.
I’d like to ask you to stop for a moment and pray…right now.
Pray for the following:
- Faith Lutheran Church and our ministry
- The Outreach Idea team
- Ask God if you should be on the Outreach Idea Team
Pray about this again tonight and tomorrow and the next day.
If you feel led to be on the team, please contact Pastor Kurt and let him know. You can email him, call him, text him, or use the contact form on our website.
May the Lord bless Faith and the Outreach Idea Team, may we reach many people with the Gospel through the ideas the Lord gives the team, and may many come to faith in Jesus through the outreach ministry of Faith.
Amen!

Pastor Kurt

Confession and Forgiveness:
P: We have come here today to worship the Lord. In worship we hear the Word of God, we receive God’s blessings, and respond with thanks and praise. We begin by seeking God’s blessing of forgiveness. He has promised to remove the guilt and shame of our sin through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.
P: Let us confess our sins to the Lord.
(a time of silence to reflect and personally confess our sins)
P: Heavenly Father,
C: Heavenly Father,
P: I have done things that were wrong.
C: I have done things that were wrong.
P: I have been mean to others.
C: I have been mean to others.
P: I have not obeyed my parents.
C: I have not obeyed my parents.
P: I have not obeyed You, God.
C: I have not obeyed You, God.
P: But I am very sorry.
C: But I am very sorry.
P: Please forgive me.
C: Please forgive me.
P: I love You very much.
C: I love You very much.
P: And I know You love me, too.
C: And I know You love me, too.
P: God has heard your apology. He loves you very much. God has told us that when we believe and trust in Him, He makes us His children. As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our sins from us. He has told me to tell you that you are forgiven. So, as His servant, I forgive you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
Song: Jesus Loves Me
Jesus loves me this I know, For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong, They are weak, but He is strong.
Chorus:
Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me,
Yes, Jesus loves me, The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me, He who died. Heaven’s gates to open wide.
He will wash away my sin, Let His little child come in.
Chorus
Jesus loves me when I’m good, when I do the things I should.
Jesus loves me when I’m bad, even though it makes Him sad.
Chorus
First Reading – Mark 1:29-31 (ERV)
Jesus and the followers left the synagogue. They all went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon’s mother-in-law was very sick. She was in bed and had a fever. The people there told Jesus about her. So he went to her bed. Jesus held her hand and helped her stand up. The fever left her, and she was healed. Then she began serving them.

Second Song: I’m Free
I’m free! (echo)
I’m free! (echo)
I’m free to be a servant of the Lord
(repeat)
Chorus:
He taught me how to praise Him,
He taught me how to sing His song.
He taught me how to L…O…V…E!
I’m free to be a servant of the Lord.
Second Reading – Mark 1:32-38 Abbreviated (ERV)
That night, after the sun went down, the people brought to Jesus many who were sick…Everyone in the town gathered at the door of that house. Jesus healed many of those who had different kinds of sicknesses…
The next morning Jesus woke up very early. He left the house while it was still dark and went to a place where he could be alone and pray. Later, Simon and his friends went to look for Jesus. They found him and said, “Everyone is looking for you!”
Jesus answered, “We should go to another place. We can go to other towns around here, and I can tell God’s message to those people too. That is why I came.”

Sermon Hymn – 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)
Chorus:
Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul,
Worship His holy name.
Sing like never before, 0 my soul.
I’ll worship Your holy name.
The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning;
It’s time to sing Your song again.
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me,
Let me be singing when the evening comes.
Chorus
You’re rich in love, and You’re slow to anger.
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind.
For all Your goodness, I will keep on singing;
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find.
Chorus:
Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul,
Worship His holy name.
Sing like never before, 0 my soul.
I’ll worship Your holy name.
And on that day when my strength is failing,
The end draws near, and my time has come;
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending:
Ten thousand years and then forevermore! Forevermore
Chorus
I’ll worship Your holy name. Yes, I’ll worship Your holy name.
Sermon – “Free From All But Servant To All”
Sermon Text – 1 Corinthians 9:16-27
For if I preach the gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward, but if not of my own will, I am still entrusted with a stewardship. What then is my reward? That in my preaching I may present the gospel free of charge, so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel.
For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly;
I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

Let’s Talk About God
Let's Talk About God
Hi! I am Terrell and I will be doing a youth blog.
I think that in the world we live in today, it must be hard to be a young person and a Christian all at once. I know in my personal life it is hard to share my faith with people because of the, “What ifs?”
- What if they treat me differently?
- What if they make fun of me?
- What if they ask questions I don’t have an answer to or understand?
It can be frustrating, but there are simple solutions.
- Talk to your pastor or someone you can trust to get the appropriate answers.
- Pray and ask God to put the right people in your life so you can talk openly, without shame.
If all else fails, remember these 2 things.
Number 1, God made you. According to Genesis, “SO God created man in his own image…” Genesis 1:27.
Number 2, He knew all about you before you were even created. “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee…” Jeremiah 1:5. I hope these scriptures comfort you and make it easier to share your faith (even a little at a time).
May God continue to bless and keep us all!!!!!
Til next time…
