Heavenly Father,

You protect me day and night. You never sleep and never slumber. Help me to remember that You are always watching over me. When I start to feel afraid for myself or my loved ones, cause me to come to You in prayer and give me Your peace.

Protect me each and every day, not only from physical dangers, but spiritual dangers as well and help me to always trust that You will protect me even from death.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You that You listen to our prayers. You don’t just put up with our prayers, but actually, ask us to pray and bring You everything. I am amazed that I can speak to the God of the Universe and that You love to hear me.

Draw me to You every day in prayer. Help me to bring You everything in prayer, both needs and praises, and not as a last resort, but as the first thing I want to do.

As I come to You in prayer, give me Your peace, knowing that You are good and wise and will answer my prayers in the best way possible.

You show us Your righteousness by keeping all Your promises. You have fulfilled Your promise of salvation in Jesus Christ. All You do is good, pure, and just.

On my own, I am not righteous. Even my “righteous” deeds are like filthy rags. However, You not only are righteous, but You make me righteous by clothing me with the righteousness of Jesus.

Thank You for keeping all Your promises and revealing Your righteousness to me through faith and thank You for making me righteous.

Daily Devotions Announcement

For nearly two years, I have been writing a series of daily devotions called, “The Other Six.” It’s been something I enjoyed greatly.

Right now, however, it has become difficult because my computer won’t log into our website (don’t know why) and I’m trying to play catch-up with church work and finishing up a summer seminary class.

So, for now, I need to stop writing the daily devotions. I hope to restart in a couple of weeks.

Stay In The Word!
In the mean time, don’t fall out of the habit of having a daily devotion. There are lots of good devotions out there, but one I’d like to recommend which I like a lot are the daily devotions from Lutheran Hour Ministries.

Blessed In Trials

“Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” – James 1:12

How do you feel when you face trials and tribulations?

When was the last time you said,

“Whoo hoo! Looks like I’m going to be facing some trials today!!”

or

“Man, that was hard, but I can’t wait for the next time I struggle through life!”

None of us like going through difficult times, but even though they are…well…difficult, we are blessed to know that we do not face them alone and they are not the last word.

In Christ, we have the promise not only of eternal life with God but an abundant life here on earth. That abundant life doesn’t mean there won’t be struggles. In fact, those struggles are part of the abundant life. They are for our good.

“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” – Romans 5:3-5

In the midst of those struggles, God is with us.

He is strengthening us, drawing us to Him, helping us to persevere and keep the faith, and He is causing us to grow in the fruit of the Spirit.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23

Most importantly, we can know that no matter how difficult it gets, we know that Christ has the ultimate victory.

What a great blessing!!

Heavenly Father,

There are times in life that are very hard. Please be with me in those times and at all times. Strengthen me and help me to look to You and trust that You will provide what I need when I need it. Forgive me for those times when I didn’t trust You were there for me.
