Heavenly Father,

Give me a hunger for Your Word. As I read Your Word, help me to understand it by the power of Your Spirit and keep me from error. Help me also remember Your Word and what I learn, whether by rote memorization or through the beauty of music. Thank you for the gift of music and it’s ability to connect with us in ways no other type of communication can.

Heavenly Father,

Jesus came and gave the greatest gift ever to us poor sinners. Be with the poor and those in need around the world. Provide for them. Help me to have compassion on those in need and to be willing to go out of my way to show them dignity and care. Give me wisdom to discover how to best help them and then the courage to do what needs to be done.

Heavenly Father,

I confess that I am a sinner. I have sinned by thought, word, and deed. I have done things I should not have done and not done things that I should have done. I have sinned unknowingly and, at times, knowingly and willfully. I know that I am guilty and deserve punishment now and for all of eternity. I pray for Your mercy. The mercy You showed us by sending Jesus to become flesh and then suffer and die for our sins. Please forgive me and renew me. Change my heart to desire You and Your ways and help me to live a life of repentance, trusting the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father,

In that first Christmas morning, the angels sung with great joy of the birth of our savior. Good news of great joy! Help me to do the same. May my witness of Jesus ring out like a bell, heard throughout the town this Christmas season. May I always sing of my salvation and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in word and deed.

Heavenly Father,

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. Fill my heart with joy through this Christmas season and beyond, a joy that is beyond my daily circumstances and rooted in Your grace and mercy which are always present.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You, Lord, for life, not just my physical life, but the eternal life I have in Christ through the faith You have given me. Help me to rest in Your salvation and hold me firmly in that faith. I look forward to the day of Your return when I know life to the fullest.

Heavenly Father,

On that first Christmas morning, our savior was born. Thank You for sending Your Son not just to Israel, but the gentiles, too. Your grace and love are greater than we could ever imagine. Help me to take the Gospel to all people, going outside the church walls and shining the light of Christ for all to see.

Heavenly Father,

Jesus is the light of the world and the light of my life. May His life shine brightly into my life and may I, then, shine His light into the lives of those around me.

Heavenly Father,

You sent Your Son to become man, born of Mary. Jesus took on flesh to destroy satan and free us from His reign of sin and death. Thank You! 

The devil still prowls like a lion seeking to destroy us. Protect me, Lord. Keep me firmly in Your reign. Lead me not into temptation and deliver me from evil.

Heavenly Father,

I confess that I am a sinner. I have done things that were against Your Law. I have not loved You with my whole heart. I have not loved my neighbor like myself.

I need Your mercy. Please forgive me for the sake of Jesus Christ, who was born in a manger, lived a perfect life, suffered and died for the sins of the world and then rose again.
